Menu Group: File Maintenance:Tax Tables - Optional
This table allows you to define the workers compensation maximums by state/province, the EBD that will be used to accumulate the expense and liability, and the rates for the work classification. The combination of province/state worked and the work classification in the employee master will retrieve the proper rate for the employee. This calculation is done during the gross to net payroll process. Once calculated the amount will be recorded on the employees record via the EBD defined in the table below. The EBD used must be an employer share type (ES), because workers compensation is only an employer share.
In some instances you may want to record the EBD on the employee record so that you can assess the expense that your employees are incurring for workers compensation, but you don't want to accrue this information to the G/L. In this case all you have to do is set the debit and credit G/L accounts in the EBD to the same code. This way the resulting G/L transactions will effectively cancel each other out.
Two functions are used to record the Workers Compensation. The first screen below allows you to define the maximum allowable for each province/state. The second screen allows you to define the rate per classification within a given state/province.
