Customer Partner Cross Reference

Menu Access:
 Character: EDI 3 11
 GUI: EDI;Maintenance

The creation of customer partner information records is required in order to determine what the default trading partner is for a particular customer and entity code in functions such as Order Entry, Order Invoicing, and Direct Billing and Credit Notes. This file is only used for outbound transactions.

If the A/R system is not installed, you will not be able to update customer partner information records. You will receive an error message, and will be returned to the menu.

This function is a browse/maintenance, i.e. you are presented with a browser for the file as in the screen below. You have the option to Insert, Modify, or deleTe records from the file. In Insert mode you will be prompted for all the applicable fields, Modify mode allows you to modify existing records, and Delete mode allows you to delete existing records after confirming the delete.

How the system determines the Partner code

For a given customer, the default trading partner is determined by finding a customer partner record in the order described below. Once a customer partner record is found, it uses the trading partner associated with this customer partner record to determine whether or not the trading partner sends documents via EDI.

  1. Find a customer partner record with the customer, entity code and transaction set specified.
  2. If a customer partner record is not found, then find one with the customer and entity code specified, and a blank transaction set.
