Character: EDI 3 1
GUI: EDI;Maintenance
To create a new EDI controlling entity, the entity must exist in the ENTITY file. After choosing the EDI controlling entity desired, the user is asked for a user name, the default file location to use when a file location is not specified for a trading partner, as well as the default version, version suffix and delimiters. See the field descriptions section below for more details.
The values entered here are defaults and can be changed when entering partners.
Field | Description |
EDI User Name | Enter the user name used for EDI purposes. This is the name that identifies that the data is coming from the user's company and trading partners. |
File Location | Enter the default file location for this entity. |
Default version | Enter the default version for the system. Can be overridden by partner. Note that we use a decimal point in the version number so version 3020 would be 3.20 etc. |
Version Suffix | Enter the version suffix (e.g. VICS, UCS, AIAG) for the appropriate industry sub-group. |
Element Delimiter | Enter the delimiter in hex format. |
Sub-element Delimiter | Enter the delimiter in hex format. |
Segment Delimiter | Enter the delimiter in hex format. |
Next Batch Number | This value is a counter. It is used to keep track of the document batches sent. Batches may be sent, re-sent, put on hold, etc. Batch numbers will be assigned to documents upon generating EDI data. |
UNIX Prefix | The path prefix is used to provide the prefix to the relative path based upon the operating environment. The files defined in the Partner Profile and the File Location definition can then be accessed whether the user workstation is connected to a UNIX or NT host. |
WIN32 Prefix | See UNIX prefix. |
Send Folder | The directory/folder where the EDI send programs will reside. This value will be used as a default in Partner Maintenance. The |partner| will be replaced by the actual partner name. |
Receive Folder | The directory/folder where the EDI receive programs will reside. This value will be used as a default in Partner Maintenance. The |partner| will be replaced by the actual partner name. |
